Playing with the guided coincidence
All the vessels turned in my workshop are fired in a gas kiln in a reducing process. This results in a strong development of carbon in the kiln chamber, which in turn can contribute to idiosyncratic colouring of the glazes.
For me, this always means a new challenge: to help chance along, to guide it a little, so that a vessel ends up with the right “garment”.
Nevertheless, almost every firing is again accompanied by surprises.
So working with clay is by no means monotonous.
