Ute Dreist

Anyone who enters Ute Dreist’s farm, which is over a hundred years old and situated in the most beautiful Mecklenburg hinterland, enters a world that seems out of this world. Between the kiln house, workshop, gallery and the magnificent farm garden, much of what all too often dominates everyday life falls away within a very short time; heart and soul come to rest, the eyes discover something new with every glance. So this is where the potter has been creating her wood-fired ceramics for thirty-five years – salt-glazed stoneware, fired four times a year in a kiln bricked up especially for the purpose, earthy, robust in everyday use and an obvious part of the nature from and in which it is created. It’s nice that places like this still exist.

Visitors are welcome - the easiest way is to call the day before.
